The 6 Sigma Drive

6 Sigma has been here for quite some time now. This quality program started in Motorola - and was popularized by GE - with the legendary Jack Welch backing up the program. It was said that a pre-requisite for becoming a manager in GE is being a six sigma green belt first.

With such a policy, no manager is left out going about his own agenda. This perhaps will enable everyone, even the big hunchos in management, to support the program. If you will not support the 6 sigma drive of the company - you won’t expect to be promoted, at worst - you may just be shown the door.

Six sigma is indeed a very nice program for every company to have. It may not necessarily be the magic pill for every company’s woes - yet I think it is close to that. Find out how GE was able to make use of six sigma for their benefit. A good reading will be that of Jack Welch’s books as “Winning”.
